I have for you today this incredible GIA Certified Unheated Ruby. This is an exceptional gem with lovely colour and rich saturation, and it is a wonderful size for a focal stone in a ring or pendant.

As is noted on the GIA certificate, the stone has not been heat treated, this is very rare for ruby, as most rubies are heat treated to improve both color and clarity. (There is nothing wrong with this)

How rare are unheated rubies?

Only about 7 grams of gem quality ruby rough is found for each ton of material mined, that is only about 0.0007%, and they know where to dig!

But wait! About 95% of this incredibly rare rough gem extracted will be too small to be a focal stone, they will be heat treated and cut to surround other beautiful gems, in other beautiful jewellery.

Now, we have our very rare, and very beautiful focal stones, and about 95% of those gems are going to be heat treated, which leaves us with.... an incredibly rare gem!
